FAQs

  • Trainers will visit students in their workplaces every four to six (4-6) weeks for two to four (2-4) hours and provide phone and email support between the visits. The next visit will be booked during the current session to ensure all parties are prepared.
  • Yes, online support is available. Students can contact their trainer between site visits for additional help and assistance. Scheduled online sessions can also be arranged as required or requested to ensure students can progress with their qualification.
  • Employers must provide scheduled paid time for apprentices and trainees to study, ensuring a balance between work and training. Students undertaking the course through an apprenticeship must allocate weekly release from their routine work duties to undertake structured training as per the following guidelines:
    • At Certificate III and above, a minimum of three hours per week, averaged over a four-week cycle (pro rata for part-time trainees and only for the duration of competencies delivered and assessed in the workplace if the training program combines off-the-job structured training and workplace-based structured training.

Progress is assessed through:
  • The Learning Management System
  • Communication and discussion during site visits
  • Quarterly reports that track student progress against their training plan.
  • Some units may require training at specialised facilities or specific onsite attendance, depending on the qualification. The specific requirements will be outlined in the course flyer and discussed during the first site visit.
  • Students who are undertaking their studies via this delivery mode will have their employers’ regular working activities assessed to determine any onsite training requirements prior to the commencement of their training, and any such requirements will be communicated and agreed to by students and their employers.
  • In instances where not all equipment or resources required to complete training and assessment are available in a student’s workplace, AGA RTO will provide training at appropriate AGA training facilities and students are required to attend onsite for assessment requirements.
The duration of the workplace training pathway varies depending on the type of enrolment:
  • Trainees: 12 months
  • Apprentices: 4 years
