About Workplace Placement

To complete the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, you’ll undertake a practical work placement in a real early childhood education environment.

You can nominate your own approved workplace, or we can help you find a suitable early learning setting that matches your goals. Before you begin placement, you’ll attend face‑to‑face workshops designed to build your confidence, develop core practical skills and prepare you for real‑world experience with children aged birth to five years.

Placement Block 2 - 80 hours
  • 12 months
  • This is a Fee for Service Course. Multiple payment plans are available, starting from $60 (interest free) per week

To successfully complete the qualification, 160 hours of practical placement are required.
  • Prior to starting the placement, students must:
    • Have a valid Working with Children Check.
    • Attend a face-to-face Practical Placement Preparation Workshop.
  • During the placement, students will complete various work placement activities and will be observed by a Trainer and Assessor in a Registered Early Learning Service.
  • AGA will assist the students to find their work placement in their local area. If a student is currently working in an Early Learning Service, work placement may be completed by their employer with approval from AGA.
  • Host employers may have a vaccination requirement for students undertaking placement. Students will be advised of this by the employer prior to starting their placements.

This course is delivered through a combination of online training face to face workshops and practical assessment in the workplace. Students will complete:
  • 90-minute training session each month (online or face to face) 
  • Structured self-timed online study with access to phone an email support 
  • Two 1-day face-to-face practical placement preparation workshops
  • 160 hours of Work placement across 2 blocks at an approved Early Learning Service 
If a student is currently working in an Early Learning Service, work placement may be completed by their employer with approval from AGA. For students who do not currently have a suitable workplace, AGA will assist the student to find a location in their local area.  
  • An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.  
  • Students must complete a Pre-Training Review including language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment
  • Have sound computer skills to navigate simple software to complete assessment activities within AGAs online learning management system
  • Students must have access to a laptop to complete online learning activities
  • Have the ability to complete 160 hours of practical placement
  • Working with Children Check
  • Students obtaining a ‘Competent’ result for all units studied will be issued a ‘Qualification’ – CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care by AGA.
  • Should a student not complete the full qualification, a ‘Statement of Attainment’ will be issued for the units which the student is deemed ‘Competent’.
  • Online and in the workplace
