This certificate is a foundational program designed to prepare you for a career in the plumbing industry, specifically for those interested in pursuing a plumbing Apprenticeship. Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to seek employment as a plumbing apprentice in either the domestic or commercial and industrial sectors. The course covers a range of essential skills, including working with hand and power tools, measurements, calculations, welding and using plumbing pipes and fixtures.

2 years part-time while at school (excluding school & public holidays) 1 day per week
Delivered through a blended approach, you’ll have
  • Four days of in-class learning and approximately eight hours of individual study per week over 12 weeks
  • Practical training and assessment by qualified trainers
  • Multiple intakes are available throughout the year
Course details may change according to industry and regulatory standards. Classes are held at our campuse in Deer Park. The qualification is completed in an average of 16 weeks, with multiple intakes across the year. Students have access to our online Learning Management System to access training and theory assessment content and are required to have their own access to a laptop. Assessments are completed with a combination of written questions and practical tasks

  • An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Students are required to pass the ACSF LLN test at the required level in reading, writing and numeracy
  • Have suitable language, literacy and numeracy skills to read and comprehend learning materials and perform assessment tasks.
  • Students are required to successfully complete a Pre-Training Review to establish suitability and appropriateness for the program.
  • Have sound computer skills to navigate simple software to complete assessment activities with AGA online learning management system.
  •  Have access to a laptop or computer to bring to training sessions.
  • Students under the age of 17 require documented permission from Secondary School administration.
  • Students obtaining a ‘Competent’ result for all units studied will be issued a ‘Certificate’ – 22701VIC Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) by AGA.
  • Should a student not complete the full qualification, a ‘Statement of Attainment’ will be issued for the units which the student is deemed ‘Competent’.

  • Completing a Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) provides graduates with the skills and knowledge to commence a plumbing apprenticeship Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420). The Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) does not meet the requirements to become a registered plumber.
