The 2025 AGA Graduation & Awards Ceremony, held at Melbourne’s iconic MCG on October 24, was a night to remember as 280 apprentices and trainees were honoured for their outstanding achievements.
The event recognised emerging talent across a range of industries while also acknowledging the vital role of employers, trainers and sponsors in shaping future careers.
AGA CEO Mark Burns welcomed over 300 attendees, including graduates and their families, host employers, industry representatives and event sponsors.
Chair of the AGA Board, Mr Damian Lacey said it’s critical to recognise the efforts of the individuals who graduated on the night and acknowledged the friends and families who have supported them on their journey.
“The fact that you are here tonight demonstrates that you understand the importance of not just embarking on the journey but completing it. The values that you experience in the workplace are part of what builds our community and culture in Australia,” Mr Lacey said.

The ceremony featured several prestigious awards, including AGA Apprentice of the Year, AGA Trainee of the Year, First Nations Apprentice of the Year and the Resilience Award.
Apprentice of the Year, Lucas Gallardo has developed into a skilled tradesman since beginning a school-based apprenticeship six years ago. Employed by Brolec Electrical Contractors, Lucas credits a strong relationship with his boss for such a successful beginning to his career.
“In Year 10, we did a project where I made a wind turbine at school, and ever since then I wanted to be a sparky. I love the industry and I’ve made good friends at work, that’s what’s made it easy for me,” Lucas said.
The success of the event was made possible by generous sponsors including MRP Wired Solutions, Telstra, AWS, Brolec Electrical Contractors, Southern Cross Computer Systems, AEN, StaySafe, Emmpressit and Casello. These partnerships are crucial in supporting AGA’s mission to empower young people through apprenticeships and training programs.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for AGA and all its graduates and highlighted the organisation’s commitment to nurturing talent and building a stronger workforce for the future.
